"Your own, your very own 10... C... C..."
The banner picture reflects 10cc in their original line up from 1972-1976 (left to right: Eric Stewart, Lol Creme, Graham Gouldman and Kevin Godley).
They generally formed two camps to write - Gouldman and Stewart for poppy, more commercial stuff and Godley and Creme to more "arty" and serious stuff. But any band member was just as capable.
All were good lyrically and brilliant musically. Songs were witty, quirky and catchy and the music fabulous - Eric's guitar solos saying it all in 30 seconds (as I read on the back of an album once).
No less than John Peel wrote in Disc in March 1973 "I'd love to hear a 10cc Album"
Recording for UK Records and Jonathon King, singles including "Donna", "Wall Street Shuffle", "The Dean and I", and "Rubber Bullets" came. The wonderful "Waterfall", "Old Wild Men" and "Worst Band In The World" appeared on albums.
In 1975 a move to Mercury Records produced "The Original Soundtrack" containing "Life Is a Minestrone", "The Second Sitting Of The Last Supper", "The Film Of My Love", the epic "Une Nuit A Paris", and the sublime mega-hit "I'm Not In Love".
1976 saw "How Dare You" with it's singles "I'm Mandy Fly Me" and "Art for Arts Sake".

At this point Kevin Godley and Lol Creme went their own way, leaving Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman rather cruelly being referred to by the media as "5cc".
In 1977, "Deceptive Bends" was released, containing three superb singles "People In Love", "The Things We Do For Love" and "Good Morning Judge". The fan's (OK, my) favourite "Feel The Benefit (Parts 1-3)" closed side 2.
1978 brought "Bloody Tourists", which in my view is not such a bad record. The brilliant "Dreadlock Holiday" was the single.
Other tracks are "The Anonymous Alcoholic", "For You And I", "Old Mister Time", "From Rochdale to Ocho Rios" and "Everything You Wanted To Know About !!! (Exclamation Marks)"

In 1980, they produced a bit of a dud - "Look Hear", which I hardly touched beyond the initial playing when I first got it. I could make excuses that the new band members wrote a few of the tracks, but in truth I just don't think it is very good. It did however have a fairly amusing cover with a photo of a ram on a chaise-lounge.
1981 saw the release of "Ten Out of 10", a return to more focussed Stewart and Gouldman compositions including "Don't Turn Me Away", "Memories", "Notell Hotel", Les Nouveaux Riches" and the sublime "Lying Here with You".
So there we have it, I think the most underrated band of their time.
Witty and accomplished and at the same time producers of catchy pop singles as well as great multi-faceted epic album tracks.
10cc - from the bottom of my heart, I thank you.

10cc and I crossed paths again in July 2014 at the Hop Farm Festival. The Graham Gouldman driven version of the band played a fabulous set of crowd pleasers.
Old band members Rick Fenn and Paul Burgess still feature.
I sang along word perfect for every song.
They also sang an accapella version of their old hit "Donna".
