I have had comments that I haven't put an update here for a while, so while I am waiting for something to happen in the Juror's Assembly Room at Croydon Crown Court, it seems opportune to attend to it. I feel like I have been busy, but looking back over time I don't seem t have done that much. Possibly, I have lost my Webmaster MoJo a little as other things have come to the fore. It is a strange time of year, post-Spring pre-Summer and we are all waiting for things to kick in. Another awful incident in Orlando, Florida. 50 innocent people gunned down because of intolerance. Shameful, sickening and very sad. Cubs are 100 Years Old this coming December. To celebrate we had a Cub Pack Centenary Camp at the County Campsite at Bentley Copse near Shere over the May Bank Holiday weekend. A total of 22 Cubs attended with various leaders and Scouts. I was on catering duty again and served up 270 meals over the four days, together with various and very numerous cake, tea and drink breaks. Assistance was (except on the Saturday) inexperienced, but we got away with it. All was going well, with no major calamities until one of the Scouts had a panic attack during a evening hike on the Sunday. It was the first time I had seen one 'close-up' and it was a little frightening. After we managed to get back to the campsite, medics managed to sort out Hannah's breathing, but it meant a very late night - my body clock woke me up at 04:30 on the Monday, so it turned into a very long day. During the weekend Surrey Scouts also held a Tea Party on the main field, which I somehow gatecrashed and renewed acquaintance with the training team. I have been fortunate enough to be able to have a couple of away days with friends - one to Whitstable and Herne Bay on the north Kent Coast, and the other walking on Leith Hill followed by an afternoon in Worthing. Lovely days, both in smashing company. I am currently booked out of the office for two weeks or so to perform my civic duty on Jury Service - a first for me. After a very boring day waiting around yesterday, I was sworn onto a jury today. The trial is a significant one, with the evidence taking about eight days. The judge told us that he fully expects our deliberations to go on for a further 3 days. The "in depth analysis" part of this particular blog is about which I have thought about for a while.
"Just when did buying anything on line become an aptitude test?" I have been challenged in my reading when the Captcha word tests first appeared to prove that I am not a robot. Nowadays I have to check the box to indicate that I am not a robot, and then a series of thumbnail pictures appear on the screen. I then have to select the pictures which contain grass, or food or trees. I realise that this is to safeguard from computer fraud and such like, but it does make me grind my teeth. Talking of which, my new crown that the dentist fitted a few weeks ago is doing a really good job at the moment. Adieu A Bientot Pip Pip
