Another varied and enjoyable month passes, as we lurch towards the Summer Holiday break... The first weekend of July was a continuation of very hot and sunny weather, and Jenny and I had booked a short stay at the Premier Inn at Herne Bay. We used this as a base for a very chilled and relaxing weekend, visiting Herne Bay, Whitstable, Reculver, Broadstairs and Margate. A lovely time. <more details here> 5 July - An old school buddy was over from Hong Kong with his family, so plans were made for a gathering in Victoria. In the end, 5 got there (Nick was beaten by the train services and Steve had some personal problems). It was a very enjoyable evening spanning 45 + years of kinship. <more here> 6 July - I had reason to call at the RAF Club in Piccadilly and saw some great paintings of RAF aircraft from their 100 years. <more here> 14 July - I was very excited when I saw the announcements about a Muppets live show at the O2 in London. I loved it, but Jenny not so much. I thought it was very enjoyable ! <more details here> On Sunday 15 July, we had a post-Father's Day / 30th birthday catch up with Chris, Charlotte, Theo, jenny and I at the Surrey Oaks pub in Newdigate. Theo is growing fast ! <photos here> I didn't see too much of this year's tournament (changes to life priorities), but followed the results with interest. It was an amazing tournament and I suspect that no one predicted even half of the results correctly. None of the "Big Guns" seemed to perform while middle of the road teams hit the ground running. A very young England team got to the semi-final completely unexpectedly and were knocked out without the usual "FAILURES" stigma. Unpredictable and exciting, with just one goalless draw. It has been good for the Beautiful Game, and well done France. Layla's care arrangements this summer are essentially that she will be with her dad during the weekdays and with Jenny at the weekends. We took the opportunity to see the Mamma Mia sequel "Mamma Mia ! Here We Go Again" on Monday 23 July. If you liked the first one, you will love this one. Brilliant - a joyous movie ! On 28 July, we went up to the Smoke for an early birthday treat for Jenny to see School of Rock at the theatre. A great show, especially if you agree with the sentiment of "Sticking It To The Man". A great day out with Jenny and Layla... <more here> All of which brings you up to date with this month's comings and goings. It has been a fairly busy one. Here is a nice reflective snap I took on my phone as I strolled from the restaurant at work this morning Next month is shaping up pretty well already, so stay tuned...
Have a good time, Dear Reader. Let's be careful out there. Pip...pip !!
