12/8/2014 0 Comments People are funny, but not necessarily in the "Ha Ha" sense ....and other revelationsToday, I have spent the first day of three weeks working alone with two work collegues (who shall remain nameless). I am feeling tired and tetchy, and am already dreading what might rear it's head tomorrow. This has got me thinking...
... who Don't Start Tasks. Things need doing, stop pretending you are busy (we all are), make the effort and get on with something. ... who Don't Finish Tasks. Schedule - Do - Complete = Good Mantra. ... who Can't Empathise. A tricky one this, but my view has always been that people don't ask for things just to be awkward - they need something. Listen to what someone is after and help them if you can. Try to see things from their standpoint. ... who Bullshit. Pretty high on my list of hates. Be straight with people. If something can't be done, tell them so but tell them what you can do. If you don't know, say so. Always remember "The Bullshit Detection is strong in this one" ... who Don't Follow Through on a Promise. Simply, if you say you will do something, do it. Try not to delegate if you have made the promise that you will do something, it dilutes the result. ... who Have No Sense of Humour. There are some, take care when you are with them, for they will bring you down. ... who are Reactive rather than Proactive. No prizes from me if you are not thinking about what you are doing. Anticipate and be prepared for things rather than just shrugging your shoulders and saying "we need to do something to sort this out" after $*1t has hit the fan. ... who Deliberate on Answers when an off the cuff quip will do. I don't know why this annoys me so. It is possibly because I am pretty quick witted (unrelated people have told me so). I might throw a line about something purile, if you can almost hear the cogs in someone's brain concocting a politically correct response, forget it... In fact, if you have had to think of a reply, we are just not on the same page. ... who Never Go The Extra Mile. Just meeting the standard required is not really good enough. You should try harder, always. So that is about it. My likes and dislikes.
If I am still talking to you, you are not doing so bad...
