V&A visit - 07 October 2015
It has become an annual event for my old landlord and mentor Michael Peat to go somewhere on a day visit each year. We have seen exhibitions of Bronzes at the Royal Academy, seen the Cutty Sark and this year I suggested a trip to one of the Kensington museums.
When Michael told me "Yes, I think I would like to see the Victoria and Albert" I was, to be blunt, dubious - it was my least favourite of the museums as a kid (too many dresses and fabrics and too few button and handle powered mechanisms) and I hadn't ventured through it's doors these past 35 years and more.
With age they say comes maturity, and appreciation comes with maturity.
This visit was, however, a revelation. There is some really interesting artifacts in the V&A collections.
Photography is allowed in the V&A unless expressly forgiven, as was the case in a Jewellery Gallery we visited. This is very refreshing as Photography Fascism is one of the banes of my life !
I am rubbish at remembering the details, but here are some photos.
Note regarding the pictures:
I took these photos during the visit, please contact me if you would like to use any.
