Weekend in Somerset and Longleat - 24/27 August 2018
The last Bank Holiday weekend of the year so Westward we went.
Weather proved to be mixed, alternating dry and warm with very wet.
We spent Saturday pottering around Weston-Super-Mare in the morning - beach, Grand Pier (2 fires in a 100 years) and Sand Sculpture and then made the short journey inland to Cheddar with the Gorge and Caves. Cheddar was rammed, so we had a long walk down the windy road to the larger cave.
Sunday needed housekeeping trips to purchase school shoes from the Clarks Village at Street, down the road from Glastonbury Tor and then a wet trip back to Cheddar for a smaller cave - but it was easier to park up.
Bank Holiday Monday was split between Longleat Safari Park, (Lions, Tigers, notorious monkeys, Lemurs, Giraffes) and the drive home passing Stonehenge on the A303. The former was brilliant, with only a broken passenger door window marring an otherwise lovely day.
A lovely weekend break.
