Staffordshire / Peak District, 11-14 April 2023
A short break for post-Easter / pre-Birthday.
Jenny and I enjoy visiting my "ancestral" roots around Alton / Stone / Stoke / The North Staffordshire Moorlands and the Peak District.
We called in at St Peter's Cemetery at Alton to pay respects and also visited my very much alive Aunt Jean and Uncle David in Cheadle.
This time we were joined by Layla and also for the first time in this area, Jenny's Mum Wendy.
Weather was best described as "mixed".
We took in (and were not kept in) the Monkey Forest on the Trentham Gardens Estate, which was interesting .
A visit to Biddulph Grange is always fascinating, and the Chinese section excellent.
A driving tour of the Peak District is also a must, as is a takeaway from the Furama Palace in Stoke's Trent Vale (about 5 minutes from the Trentham Garden's Premier Inn).
The journey home was slightly extended as we had a tyre blow-out on the M1 motorway.
I managed to change the wheel and get us going again while on the hard shoulder in a (I think) very acceptable 25 minutes.
A truly enjoyable break.
