January has been a mixed bag. Slow as the post-Christmas period often is, but I feel like it has been busy. I am a little tired, partly due to absences at work (not mine). First outing of the year was to Painshill on 20 January. A bit cold and damp, but very few folks had ventured out. A nice few hours in good company... <more photos here> Plans to get excited about... Although this month has been "steady" rather than busy, - which seems to happen after the Festive Season - there are some very exciting times ahead. :
are all due before the end of April. Mother care schedules... Over the last year or so, I have found my personal time a little stretched and noticed that I have become less satisfied with how my time off is being spent. I need to visit and keep an eye on my Mum's care and well-being. I want to spend time with loved ones and I have been short changing both them and myself by excluding about ten hours of every Saturday from my weekend schedule with them - historically, Sunday travel from Surrey to London has proved very troublesome and inefficient so my visits are on Saturday. To try and work around this, I have decided to visit my Mum on two consecutive Saturdays and then have a Saturday "off". This means that my Saturday "off", falls alternately when Jenny has her daughter in residence and then when Layla is with her Dad. The schedule looks okay on a printed sheet, but I will see how it works in practice. After Christmas, work was all but completed on the renovation and improvements at Redhill rail station. Surely I cannot be the only one who finds the name of the newly constructed platform just a little sinister. "Abandon hope all ye who climb the stairs to Platform Zero". And that, Pop Pickers is about that.
So, until next time Pip... pip !!!
